Blogging Again

I blogged for a while, but it was really just political commentary. Actually, it was just the weekly political update memos I wrote at work for a while that I posted online.
This blog will be a hopefully entertaining glimpse into law school.
Specifically, the life of a 1L.

I titled my blog "Random Musings from A Gunner" because I'm realizing that I have gunner tendencies. Or at least I do thinks that appear gunnerish. I hate the awkwardness of a professor looking around the room waiting for someone to talk so I'll raise my hand if the pause gets long. Man I hate that awkwardness. I'm also slightly older than most of my classmates (two years) and I worked for a while before coming to law school so I'm thoroughly used to dealing with: a) people that are older than me, and b) people that are tough and/or powerful (as law professors are). That means I'm more likely to speak up. I'm going to have to figure out how to restrain those tendencies. I can't be a gunner.

I'll elaborate more on my gunner tendencies later. For now, I'll just give you a quick update on life.
Yesterday in Criminal Law, we watched a double murder caught on a surveillance video. The murder, a 16 year old boy, ordered two clerks to the ground and proceeded to ransack the store for a full 15 minutes before shooting each of the clerks in the back of the head. It was extremely disturbing to see human life ended so calously.
Today we're reading about the Virginia Tech massacre in Torts and rapes in Criminal law. All in all, the last couple days haven't been very light-hearted. (It says something when you look forward to reading about people suing each other because it's less emotionally fraught.)
However, reading and seeing those dark and evil tragedies reminds you of the joy in life. It reminds you of how things were created to be, and how that ray of divinity breaks through into daily life with a beautiful regularity.
I'm still loving law school.
